Coinciding with the years of the Conference on Análisis Input-Output Analysis, the Hispano-American Society of Input-Output (SHAIO) appoints a new honorary member. This figure is intended to honour those people who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of the Spanish-speaking input-output community.

In this year 2024, and coinciding with the 10th SHAIO Conference in Gijón, it is a pleasure and an honour to announce the appointment of the new honorary member of the SHAIO in the figure of Professor Vicent Alcántara, Honorary Professor of Applied Economics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His fields of specialisation are ecological economics, energy economics, and he is an expert in input-output analysis applied to the environment.
He has made numerous academic contributions in these fields, both in books and in journals of great impact and national and international dissemination. These contributions, pioneers in the analysis of production systems and their environmental impacts by means of input-output analysis, are an obligatory reference for all those who carry out research in these areas.

Professor Vicent Alcántara has also been a driving force and active member of the SHAIO since its beginnings. His role in supporting input-output research in different areas of work, his support for the research of young researchers, his continuous participation in all initiatives, as well as his interest in strengthening the Spanish-speaking input-output community are elements that define his academic career and his contribution to our society.

Congratulations, Vicent, thank you for all the work, involvement and affection you have shown for the SHAIO! We hope that this well-deserved recognition will serve to disseminate, even more if possible, the work of people like you, who help to promote and strengthen our SHAIO.
